Jennie has left the building!
As you
may remember from the last newsletter, Jennie is expecting a baby
and her last day in the office was
Friday 8 February. Therefore I now find myself in complete
control of this lovely newsletter! Having joined BibleLands
just over three months ago, it is still a learning curve but I am
gradually getting there!
Taking Jennie’s
maternity cover is Rachel Boucher, who happens to be my
sister-in-law, and she began here
just over a month ago. I’ll hand over to her now so she can say a
brief ‘hello’…
‘Hello!
It is great to be able to keep Jennie’s seat warm for her while
she is away! It is a privilege to be
working for BibleLands. Everyday I have emails from our
Overseas Partners expressing their gratitude to BibleLands
for the support they receive, which wouldn’t happen if it wasn’t
for people like you, so thank you. Jennie will be a hard act to
follow, but I’ll try, by doing it the Rachel way!’

Partner Profile:
Birds’ Nest Home The
Birds’ Nest Home, which is located in Jbeil (Lebanon) provides a
home for children who have lost a
parent or are unable to live at home due to difficult situations.
It was founded in 1928 by a Danish missionary named Miss Maria
Jacobsen.
The 50 children who live at Birds’ Nest are all from Armenian
Christian families. Until 2003 the Home ran
a primary school for children. However, while the kindergarten
children continue to receive lessons at the Home, the older children
now attend a local school as day students. This enables them to
meet, play and work with local children, which helps them integrate
more fully in society. The children live at home during the
academic year, visiting their families during the holidays.
The Home has its own chapel, where weekly Sunday services are held
and where the children attend
Sunday School. The Home used to run a summer camp but due to the
political situation in Lebanon this programme has had to be
cancelled.
Carol singing:
![]() Friday 14 December saw a brave band of BibleLands bods
gather
under the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square to sing carols,
valiantly accompanied by Ali on her flute. Despite the cold
weather everyone enjoyed themselves and we collected £120 for 45
minutes – not a bad hourly rate!
We will be applying again next year, and with more notice we hope
more people will be able to come along.
The A-Z of Fundraising Ideas: J is for…
Jamboree – singing, dancing, acting – the perfect way to
involve lots of people while spreading the message of BibleLands
Joke contest – how about inviting some friends over for an
evening of joke telling – those who tell the worst jokes have to put
£5 into a BibleLands bucket.
