Egypt Challenge 2010
Join us for this fantastic fundraising and volunteering expedition through Egypt, organised in association with Different Travel.
Dates: 5-14 March 2011
Cost: £1700 full board (includes a contribution to BibleLands' funds)
This challenge is for people who want more than just a holiday - it's a chance to really get to know Egypt and its people, and support BibleLands' work at the same time. The trip includes three days volunteering at St Andrew's Refugee Services. This will be an amazing opportunity to get involved and make a personal difference to the lives of people living in poverty. We encourage you to raise the cost of the trip by holding events in your local community - spreading the word about our work as well as raising funds.
The expedition begins on the Sinai Peninsula, where we will explore the sweeping desert landscapes surrounding St Katherine's Monastery and climb Moses Mountain at sunset for spectacular views of a land steeped in a thousand years of history. Then it's on to Cairo. St Andrew's needs help with maintenance work and redecorating to keep the premises a safe, bright and welcoming environment for the displaced people who use its services. In just three days, we'll aim to get the building looking amazing - and the more volunteers we have, the more we can do!
The trip will require a reasonable level of fitness but the trekking will not be strenuous and no special skills are required. Download the dossier for information and advice about visiting Egypt.
