BibleLands' Church Representative
As a BibleLands church representative you will be BibleLands’ main point of contact within your church and be an advocate and ambassador for the charity among your church leadership and congregation. You will try to encourage individuals and the church as a whole to lend support to BibleLands’ work through prayer and financial giving.
There are many ways in which you could carry out this role. You would not be expected to do all of them but here are some suggestions:
- Arrange for a BibleLands Speaker to visit your church to make a presentation about the work we do, the projects we support and ways in which they could respond.
- Display our magazine, The Star in the East and other communications in your church so people can read about the work we do and the ways in which they can support it.
- Encourage the use of our resources, especially our Lent Study Guide and The Star in the East, so that people can become more familiar with the projects we support, and the need to carry on Christ’s work of healing and teaching in the lands of the Bible.
- Arrange for a special collection to support our work, using our gift envelopes.
- Promote our alternative gift catalogue with its range of innovative gifts that directly benefit the lives of children, families and communities in need while at the same time giving great pleasure to the person in whose name the gift is made.
- Circulate our trading catalogue and encourage the purchase of BibleLands cards and gifts.
- Join with other church members to organise fundraising events for BibleLands. Let us know about your event (even better if you also send a picture!) so that we can publicise it to give other people ideas.
- Most importantly, draw attention to our prayer diary as a focus for prayers in support of the work of BibleLands and those whom we serve.
Once a year we will invite you to a training day where we will update you on our latest plans and developments.
BibleLands will support you by providing you with all the information and resources you will need to be a truly effective advocate for BibleLands. You will have the support and guidance of a BibleLands’ Regional Representative to get you started and to give feedback and help along the way.
