The BibleLands Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We thank you for your blessings
on the work of BibleLands
and its Overseas Partners,
as they have shared the compassion of Christ
with those in need - regardless of their faith or nationality.
We pray that you will renew their vision,
give them your guidance and strength,
and bless them and all those that they serve.
Help them to continue to show Christian love in action,
as they tend, treat and teach those in their care,
that those in need will be encouraged and enabled,
and Your Name be glorified.
Amen
Keep us from Pettiness by Mary Stewart, Queen of Scots
Keep us, O God, from pettiness; let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.
Let us be done with faultfinding and leave off self-seeking.
May we put away all pretenses and meet each other, face to face, without self-pity and without prejudice.
May we never be hasty in judgment and always generous.
Let us take time for all things; make us to grow calm, serene, gentle.
Teach us to put in action our better impulses - straightforward and unafraid.
Grant that we may realize it is the little things of life that create difficulties; that in the big things of life we are as one.
Oh, Lord, let us not forget to be kind.
Amen

Prayer For Wartime by Brother David Steindl-Rast
You, the one
From whom on different paths
All of us have come.
To whom on different paths
All of us are going.
Make strong in our hearts what unites us;
Build bridges across all that divides us;
United make us rejoice in our diversity.
At one in our witness to your peace,
A rainbow of your glory.
Amen |
Vancouver Assembly of the World Council of Churches
For peace in your country
For the victims of violence everywhere
For those struggling for peace and justice
For churches in conflict situations
For a world without war and violence
Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth
Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust
Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace
Let peace fill our beings, our world and our universe.
