David Ritson and his friends organised a very successful Beer and Carols night at the Cock Crow Inn in Hebburn, Tyne and Wear. Here’s David’s review:

‘I have never seen so much enthusiasm for Carol Singing before and thoroughly enjoyed it. So much so that I've already been asked to host another one next year. After each Carol there was a cheer and applause, which became more raucous as the evening went on.

‘We began singing at 7pm, and did four lots of Carols with a five minute break after each twenty five minutes. At 9pm the local quiz master took over with a fun Christmas quiz and little bingo games which filled in the rest of the night until 11pm.

‘The Cock Crow is a great little pub with a family atmosphere at the best of times. Children are always welcome there as it is an eat-in place. That night there were lots of people booked in for Christmas meals. I don't think anyone left before about 10pm so the place was packed.

‘As to singing ‘While Shepherds watched’ ..... we did that to the tune of the Lambton Worm, adding the chorus...

"Whisht, lads, haad yor gobs,
A'all tell yiz aall a luvly story.
 Whisht lads, haad yor gobs,
A'all tell ye boot the bairn."

which roughly translated means ..............

"If you keep quiet I'll tell you all a lovely story about the child."

They raised £75. Well done from the team at BibleLands!
