More Infomation:
Founded: 1934

Director:  The Revd Hrayr Cholakian

Beginnings:
This School for Armenian children is in a poor suburb in north-east Beirut. It was founded in 1934, for refugee children whose families had fled the massacres in Turkey in 1915 and 1922.

Activities:

  • The School teaches the Lebanese curriculum in Armenian, Arabic and English. There is a special emphasis on Armenian history, language and culture and the School has a good reputation for teaching science to a high level. All the students study the Bible, and older students are also taught Church history including the history of the Armenian Church.

  • The younger children attend Sunday School and each day starts with an assembly at 7.30am. The physical health of the children is very important, and any child with health problems can receive medical or dental treatment and eye care. Students do well in sports competitions and take part in football, basketball, running and table tennis.
