Nigel
Edward-Few: Director
 |
Nigel was
appointed Head of Communications and
Fundraising at BibleLands in November 2001. During the year
that followed, he developed new strategies
to develop BibleLands' profile and has been a part of the Team
that has raised additional support for its work with disadvantaged
and needy children, adults and communities in Israel and the Occupied
Territories, Egypt
and Lebanon, taking income above the £3 million mark for the first
time.
Nigel
was appointed Director in December 2002 and heads up the Senior
Management Team.
In the
11 years prior
to his appointment to BibleLands, Nigel held senior management
positions within Church Army, where he was its first Director of
Marketing, as Communications Secretary with the Church Mission Society and
as Founding Executive Director of Willow Creek Association UK.
He had
also worked in the charitable sector in the 1970s before his 24 year
career in the commercial sector, where he held several senior
appointments, as well as acting as a Trustee for several charitable
organisations.
Outside BibleLands,
Nigel is married with two teenage children. As
a trained musician, he enjoys music of all kinds. He is also
an experienced photographer with a specific interest in landscapes
and
the British
countryside. |

Mo
Burnley: Head of Overseas Operations
 |
Since
leaving the WRNS in 1988, Mo Burnley has worked exclusively in the
voluntary sector, both here in the UK as well as overseas. Immediately
prior to joining BibleLands, she lived and worked for a number of years
in the Middle East, where she learnt to speak Arabic.
Mo joined
BibleLands in March 1996. Working initially as Personal Assistant
to the then Chief Executive, she was appointed to the post of Head
of Overseas Operations in January 1998. |

Rev
Nick Plant: Head of Finance & Administration
 |
Nick
Plant is a qualified accounting technician and started his career with
a large US multinational heavy engineering company. In 1985, he joined
a small office equipment company where, with a business partner, he
completed a successful management buyout in 1990 and guided the company
through a difficult recession. Nick joined BibleLands in 1997
as part of the Senior Management Team and has been a major player in
the implementation and utilisation of the new database and accounting
systems.
Nick
is also an Anglican priest and currently serves in the Burnham team
in the Diocese of Oxford. In his spare time he enjoys singing in a
close harmony group with his wife Angela, watching and playing football
with his two young sons, and socialising with friends. |

Tricia Pruden: Head of Communications & Fundraising
 |
Tricia has 20
years' fundraising experience and joined BibleLands' Senior
Management Team in April 2005. Her immediate priority is the
development of a new five year Communications and Fundraising strategy to
ensure that BibleLands'
much needed care of the vulnerable and disadvantaged will continue for as
long as it is needed. The strategy will recognise, appreciate and continue
to encourage our existing wonderful supporter base, as well as finding,
reaching and enthusing a whole new generation of younger supporters.
She says: "During
my career I have chosen to work in organisations making a difference to
those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged. I am very much drawn to the
Christian ethos of BibleLands and am delighted to take on what
promises to be a challenging and rewarding role in making that difference
to the lives of so many, especially the children, in this troubled region."
Tricia is
married with three teenage and grown-up children.

Dr
Hugh Boulter MA, PhD, MBE: President

After reading
Modern History at Oxford, Hugh Boulter taught at a boys' grammar
school in Eastern Nigeria. On his return to England, he worked with
newly-arrived Asian children in Huddersfield primary schools. A career
in education administration followed, latterly with specific responsibility
for primary schools in Northamptonshire and then for education finance.
A
previous chair of the National Association for Multi-racial Education
and as Director of the Worldwide Education Service, Hugh has travelled
widely, especially in the Middle East. He has since served both as a
Director and a Trustee of several charities concerned with education
and overseas development. He chairs the Anglican Diocese of Oxford's
Committee for Interfaith Concerns and has recently published a thesis
entitled 'The Spirit in Islam - Christian-Muslim dialogue'. In
2000 he was awarded the MBE for services to the National Advisory Council
of Boards of Visitors of Prisons. He is married with two sons.

Rev
Daniel Burton MA: Chair
Daniel
Burton was born and brought up in Lancashire and was a Baptist Minister
before moving into the Anglican ministry in 1994. He served as a short-term
mission partner with CMS in Ramallah in the 1980s and this was his introduction
both
to the Middle East and to the work of BibleLands. He became a Trustee
in 1990 and has led numerous
pilgrimages to the Holy Land, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. After ten years of parish
ministry in South Wales, Daniel returned north in July 2003 to take
up a parish post in inner-city Manchester. Single, Daniel describes his interests
as cinema, reading, walking and travel. |

Hugh Bradley: Vice Chair

Hugh Bradley was
educated at Taunton School and University College London where he
graduated in Economics and Economic History in 1972.
He joined Debenhams PLC on their Graduate Training Scheme and progressed
through a number of senior Store Management positions to become a
Regional Sales and Operations Director in 1989. In 1996 he joined
Debenhams Management Board as Communications Director, responsible
primarily for their Marketing and Customer Communication Strategy. He
took early retirement from Debenhams in 2004.
Hugh became a member of the Board of BibleLands Trading in April
1998 and was invited to become a Trustee of the Charity in October 2005.
Married with two grown up daughters, Hugh attends Merrow Methodist
Church in Guildford, where he has lived for the past 17 years. He is
also a Governor at his local Comprehensive School.

Mrs Vicky Smith: Treasurer

Vicky Smith is married with three children
and lives in North Yorkshire. She has a degree in Business Studies and is
also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. She
has worked in senior roles in both the private and public sectors and is
currently a senior finance manager for an NHS Primary Care Trust. Vicky
became a Trustee in 2004 and is also a governor at her children's primary
school. In her 'spare time' she enjoys cycling, playing tennis and
reading.

Dr
Cyril Young TD DL MSc FRCOG

Cyril was previously Chair of Trustees and
President. Latterly, before retirement, as a Gynaecological and Obstetrics Consultant,
Dr Young oversaw
the building of the New Greenwich Hospital. He is also Deputy
Lieutenant for Greenwich and is married to Felicity, a previous BibleLands
Trustee and has a son and daughter, both in their twenties. |

Michael Cleaves JP BA BD DPS
Rev
Michael J Cleaves has been a Baptist Minister for 28 years. He
has served churches in London, Blackburn, Milton Keynes and Northampton
and is currently Minister of Christchurch United Church in Llanedeyrn,
Cardiff. Michael holds degrees in Languages, Theology, Pastoral
Studies and Peace Studies. He has been Chair of International Relations
for the Baptist Union of Great Britain, and has been on numerous
denominational, ecumenical and international bodies, including
at present the Inter-church Cooperation Commission and the Council
of
the Baptist World Alliance. He has also been a magistrate for 13
years and a Trustee of BibleLands for 9 years. Michael has
been married to Eirlys for 30 years and they have two adult sons. |

Mr
Douglas Callander
Douglas is an Architect with West Dunbartonshire Council and is married
to Levette. They have 2 children who are both married. He is a member
of Queen's Park Baptist Church in Glasgow and is currently serving
as Building Fabric Convener. Douglas has been involved in numerous
and varied charities that have included the design of schools, clinics
and other buildings, mainly in India and some in Africa. Douglas'
interest in Middle East was kindled during a visit to Beirut with Levette in 1973 and he has supported BibleLands ever since. Although
not a cyclist, he has taken part in 6 bike
rides to raise funds for the Nazareth Hospital. Mountaineering, when time
allows, is one of his hobbies. |

Judy Hackney

"I have lived and worked in London since returning from working in Latin
America many years ago. I have worked as a nurse and principally as a health
visitor. My main experience and interests lie in the world of children and
the disadvantaged or disabled. I have been fortunate to have the experience
of travelling quite widely and enjoy meeting people from different countries
and backgrounds. I have been a supporter of BibleLands for several
years and my interest and commitment increased since attending the Annual
Services and going on the BibleLands pilgrimage to Egypt in 2003. I
look forward to learning more about the countries and peoples that BibleLands
is involved with and seeing what contribution I might make to the work." |

Dr Ros Davies

Dr Ros Davies is consultant in Audio-Vestibular Medicine (Hearing and
Balance Disorders) at the National Hospital for Neurology and
Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. She has travelled widely and lived
for 15 months in Harare, Zimbabwe. During her time there, she worked
with the Department of Paediatrics carrying out a study of 300 infants
with meningitis - to identify any hearing loss at an early stage and
begin appropriate management. She has three children and lives in
Chesham in Buckinghamshire.

Brian Jolly

Ordained in 1982,
Brian Jolly has served as minister of United Reformed Churches in
Blackburn, Bolton and Stockport. With his wife and three teenage children he
moved to Hale, Cheshire in 2005 to become minister of the United
Reformed Church in Altrincham. Brian has been a frequent visitor
to
Israel
and the Occupied Palestinian Territories for 25 years. There
he has studied, and led many groups of visitors from the UK and Europe
to engage with the land of the Bible and the indigenous churches; he is
committed to supporting these churches in their caring ministries to
suffering people, and helping them to sustain their presence against
increasing odds.

Nichola Jones

One of the youngest
women Methodist ministers when ordained 25 years ago, Nichola has served
in urban and rural settings and is now in an inner city, multiracial
appointment. Schooldays at Manchester High and studying at
Manchester and Cambridge Universities prompted the vital link between
Theology and practical action. She serves on the Sabeel Theology Group
and is a Director of Chapel Aid. For over 20 years Nichola has
been visiting the Occupied Territories, taking pilgrims to the Christian
sites, travelling to meet local people and projects run by BibleLands, establishing links and building friendships.

Mrs Joanna Robertson
 "It was a great privilege to be
appointed a Trustee in 2000 and my previous experience enables me to contribute to the work of the Charity. I trained in general and orthopaedic
nursing, and in midwifery, and have worked in the NHS, the independent
sector and the Department of Health. I retired in 2002. Appointed a
Magistrate in 1979, I continue to sit in the Adult and Youth Courts,
and I have been a Mental Health Act Manager since 1983."
Joanna is a member of
the Anglican church, and currently a churchwarden and Deanery Synod
member. She has three daughters – and seven grandchildren so far! |

Rev. Baroness Kathleen Richardson of Calow

Originally trained as a teacher, Baroness Richardson worked in the Methodist Church as a Deaconess and a Lay Worker before being ordained into the Methodist ministry in 1980.
In 1987, she was the first woman to be appointed Chairman of the West Yorkshire District of the Methodist Church. Following a 12-month period as the President of the Methodist Conference, Baroness Richardson was then elected, in 1995, as the Moderator of the Free Church Federal Council and President of Churches Together in England. Again, she was the first woman to be elected to this post.
She was honoured in 1996 with an OBE for services to the ecumenical movement and then in 1998, was created a life peer in the Queen's Birthday Honours list. Having been introduced into the House of Lords with the title of the Reverend Baroness Richardson of Calow, she was given early retirement from the Methodist Church in order to be able to spend more time in the House.
In addition to her responsibilities in the House of Lords, Baroness Richardson is also the Moderator for the Churches Commission for Inter Faith Relations and Chair of the Churches Information for Mission.
Baroness Richardson has visited the Holy Land on a number of occasions, the most significant of which was a visit as part of a delegation from the British Council of Churches to look at the effects of the first Intifada. |

Rev. David Coffey, President of the Baptist World Alliance

David Coffey has been
an ordained Baptist Minister with the Baptist Union of Great Britain
since 1967. Following graduation from Spurgeon's College, London he
served as Pastor of three Baptist churches: Whetstone, Leicester
(1967-72); North Cheam, Sutton (1972-80); and Upton Vale, Torquay
(1980-88)
He was elected at the age of forty four as the President of the
Baptist Union of Great Britain 1986-87.
David was elected as the Vice President of the European Baptist
Federation (EBF) (1995-1997) then as President of the EBF (1997–99).
In July 2005 he was elected as BWA President from 2005 – 2010. During
his ministry he has visited over 68 countries and since 2005 has
ministered in Australia, USA, Russia, Vietnam, Czech Republic, Mexico,
Canada, Hungary, Thailand, Kenya, Moldova, Israel and the West Bank,
Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ghana, Lebanon, Jordan,
Croatia, Poland and Nagaland (NE India).
From 2003-2007 David served as the Moderator of the Free Churches
Group to represent the 19 Free Church denominations in England. In
this capacity David served alongside the Archbishop of Canterbury, the
Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster and Bishop Nathan Hovhannisian of
the Armenian Orthodox Church. The four Presidents made a pilgrimage to
the Holy Land in December 2006 which included a visit to the Christian
community of Bethlehem.
In December 2007 he was awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours for
services to inter faith relations.
David lives in Didcot Oxfordshire. He has been married to his ‘best
friend’ Janet for 41 years and they have two adult children, Niki and
Philip.
David is an enthusiastic soccer fan and has been following the
fortunes of Chelsea FC since the early 1960’s when they were not a
cash rich club! He is also a keen musician and a member of the Elgar
Society.

Rev. Michael Langrish, Bishop of Exeter

Michael Langrish
spent his childhood and school days in Southampton.
A degree in History and Social Sciences from Birmingham University,
where he was Chancellor’s Prizeman in 1965, was followed by a PGCE and
time spent teaching in the East End of London and in Nigeria before
ordination training at Ridley Hall and a Cambridge degree in theology.
More recently, Michael was awarded Doctorates of Divinity by the
Universities of Birmingham and Exeter and his working life continued
to be spent in the twin fields of education and the ordained ministry
of the Church of England.
Michael has been a school chaplain as well as a parish priest in both
a market town, a rural setting and an urban setting. He has also been
responsible for the vocational and professional development of clergy
as well as being a Canon of Coventry Cathedral.
In 1993 he became Suffragan Bishop of Birkenhead in the Diocese of
Chester which gave him responsibility for a very mixed rural and urban
area before coming to Exeter as Diocesan Bishop in 2000.
Michael holds several national responsibilities, including being a
member of the House of Bishops and General Synod, as well as being
Chairman of the Church of England’s Rural Strategy Group and a Board
member of Christian Aid. He is also a member of the House of Lords on
and speaks regularly on matters relating to farming and rural affairs,
and also the Middle East.
He is the current President of the Devon Association of Young Farmers’
Clubs and is also involved in the life of Exeter University as a
member of the Council. Michael is married to Esther, who is a
Counsellor and a Licensed Reader in the Church of England. They have
three adult children and three grandchildren.
