300 students, between 4 and 12 years old.

More Information:
Founded: 1954

Beginnings:
Twin sisters Ada and Ida Stoltzfus founded the School and it was originally named the Mennonite Orphanage for Boys.

Activities:

  • The children follow the Palestinian government’s curriculum, with a special emphasis on music and literature. They are taught English from an early age.
  • Most of the students come from very poor homes and from families affected by sickness, bereavement or the current conflict. The School is very popular and has a long waiting list of potential pupils.
  • There are about 20 boarders at the School, who are all boys. These children are unable to live with their families but return home to visit their parents at weekends and school holidays.

  • A rapidly-growing deaf unit offers special training for 25 students with hearing impairments. The School aims to intervene early, and to reintegrate children into the mainstream within a couple of years.
