More Infomation:
Founded: 1992
Director: Dr Bahig Ramzay
Beginnings:
Medinat El Salaam is one of the new cities built by the Egyptian Government on the outskirts of Cairo. In this poor area, the Diocese of Egypt began a Social Centre in 1992 to provide much needed care to the local people. The Centre runs various programmes, including a health clinic, a paediatric clinic and a small business loans scheme. One of the main activities is the Kindergarten, funded by BibleLands.
Activities:
Education
- Hadana gives the children, many of whose parents are illiterate, the chance to receive a future education in government schools by teaching them to read and write.
- Many of the children are from broken homes and Hadana provides a place for them to feel secure by encouraging good social skills and a positive self-image.
- The School aims to break down barriers and promote communication between the faiths. In 2000, the Egyptian government praised Hadana for being one of the best three kindergartens in Cairo.
